Our Process

OUR PROCESS

Step by step, Digitek Digital will assist in building  your dream home

Building a new home is one of the most exciting processes someone will undertake. It’s an amazing process that allows you to take all of your ideas and combine to make a new place that you can call home.

Many people find that selection process can be intimidating or overwhelming so we’ve assembled this guideline to help you see how Digitek fits into the process.

Let's Get Started

Home Discovery

One of the questions many people is “When should we meet with you?” The short answer to that question is the sooner you meet with us the smoother the process will be, and the more time you’ll have to make your decisions. Many of our referrals come to us via our builder partners and they introduce us into their process as soon as the build contract is signed.

Once you’ve decided to meet with us the first step of the process is a discovery meeting. This discovery meeting is typically held at our showroom and runs between thirty minutes and two hours in length depending on the size of the home and items you’re looking for. We at Digitek feel that the discovery meeting is one of the most important steps of the process. It’s our job to listen to your wish list and then use our years of technical knowledge to assemble a system that fits your needs.

It’s also our job to expose you to new products, ideas and trends so that you can be fully informed on the items that are available to you.

Quoting

Once the discovery meeting is complete it’s our job to head to our desk and assemble a proposal for you. These proposals are also a very important step of the process because they tell you exactly what you’re buying and give guidance to how it will be installed in the home. You will find that our proposals are exceptionally detailed and break out each piece of equipment you’re buying, with model numbers, by room of the house.

Typical turn around time on a proposal is five business days but that can vary depending on the size/complexity of the proposal and time of the year (we are exceptionally busy on major holidays including 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years).

Hopefully the initial proposal we send meets your needs, but if not we will work with you to revise the proposal until we can find a happy medium between your wish list and budget.

Rough-In Phase

The rough-in phase is when we come to your home to run the low voltage wiring outlined in your proposal.

This phase of work happens right around the same time that the electricians are wiring your home, which is just before insulation takes place. In order for our crews to run this wiring they must first know exactly where everything will go in the home, and the way we do that is by scheduling a site walk through with you and your sales person before we wire the home. At this walkthrough you and your sales person will review your proposals and physically mark locations for TVs, speakers, cameras, wifi, etc throughout the home.

We love this step of the process because it’s essentially an in person audit of the proposal, and if we run across any new ideas or recommendations during the walk through they can still be added before the wiring begins. Once this wiring is done and the drywall goes up any changes become cumbersome and expensive quickly, so we always recommend that you bring up any items you may be thinking, even if they seem small or insignificant.

Trim Phase

The trim phase is when we come to your home to install any wall plates, speakers, low voltage panels, etc.

This is an exciting time because when we’re trimming your home we’re typically within a month of completion. At this point it’s been anywhere between 6 and 24 months since we’ve wired the home so the proposals will be anything but fresh in your mind. In order to kick the process back into gear you will be in touch with your sales person around this time to once again review the proposals in preparation for completion of the project.

Depending on the size/scope of the job this could be a simple phone call or it may be more effective to do a second site walk through. If there have been any product discontinuations, replacements, price adjustments, etc that affect your finish products they will be reviewed at this time.

This is also a great opportunity to discuss any new technologies that may have come out during your construction process and see if we want to incorporate them into the project.

Finish

The finish phase is when we come to your home to install all of your equipment and get you up to speed on using it. This includes, TVs, speakers, wifi, motorized blinds, smart lighting, security, etc.

This is without question the most exciting step of the process because we get to show you all of the items we have installed in your home. This process takes place right around the time that you’re moving into the home. In most cases this work cannot start until you have officially closed on the home with your builder, however in some circumstances exceptions can be made. The average install time on a system is one to three days but depending on the size/complexity of the system this could be anywhere from a half day to two weeks. Once the system is fully installed we will work with you to download the necessary apps to control it and give you a full tutorial on how to use it.

Of course just because we’re done doesn’t mean we’re gone because you can always contact your sales person via phone or email with additional questions. Digitek Digital supports all the products we install and sell.
